Get your culinary arts students walking around the room finding clues with this Food Safety Whodidit mystery activity. This Clue-Like activity has students reading about food safety rules and answering questions to find out whodidit!

A group of food scientists went on a work retreat to a tropical island. They each prepared meals for the group until someone fell very ill from a foodborne illness and no one knows why.

Who was the culprit, and what was the cause?

This is great for high school or middle school foods, culinary, home economics or life skills classes.

This is a print-and-go “clue” type game in which students move around the room reading 10 clues and figuring out the following:

  • who committed the crime
  • where it was committed
  • with what the crime was committed

What’s included:

  • Reading on food safety
  • 10 clues about the following food safety rules:
    • Avoiding cross-contamination
    • Storing meats in the refrigerator
    • TCS foods
    • Safe storage temperatures of foods
    • Types of contaminates- physical, chemical, biological
